SEGi Dental Students Gain Invaluable Experience at Hospital Sungai Buloh

SEGi University’s Faculty of Dentistry continues to provide its students with hands-on and enriching experiences in various healthcare settings. The recent posting at Hospital Sungai Buloh, which includes both Paediatric and Oral Surgery rotations, offers dental students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a hospital environment and gain exposure to a diverse range of cases.

Paediatric and Oral Surgery Postings

The posting at Hospital Sungai Buloh commenced on the 10th of October 2023 and is set to last for eight weeks for the Paediatric rotation, followed by an extensive 32-week Oral Surgery posting. These rotations are instrumental in giving dental students a comprehensive understanding of the hospital setting and the challenges and complexities it entails.

Key Objectives

The primary objectives of these postings are to allow students to actively participate in ward rounds, observe medical professionals at work, and document complex cases. By doing so, they gain valuable insights into the diagnosis and treatment of various oral health conditions. This exposure not only enhances their clinical skills but also helps them develop a deeper understanding of the medical and surgical aspects of dentistry.

Broadening Horizons

These hospital postings go beyond traditional dental training, as they expose students to a wide spectrum of healthcare scenarios and decision-making processes. The students’ ability to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team is fostered, and their competence as future dental professionals is further developed.

This initiative represents the commitment of SEGi University’s Faculty of Dentistry to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive education to its dental students. The exposure to different healthcare settings, including hospital environments, equips students with the knowledge and experience necessary to excel in the field of dentistry and contribute meaningfully to the broader healthcare community.
