Dr Srikumar, a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, serves in academic leadership and research administration for more than 25 years. Before joining SEGi, Dr Srikumar served as the Director for Research, Innovation, Enterprise and Postgraduate Studies at MAHSA University, and as former Dean of Graduate School of Medicine, Perdana University, and former Dean of Medical Sciences at International Medical University. His diverse roles include being an educator and administrative leader in business development, student recruitment, commercial income generation, and educational spinoffs in various educational ventures and faculties.
An ardent researcher, he has 257 papers in indexed international peer-reviewed journals, with an H-index of 38, i10 index of 120 and 6339 citations. He has the distinction of publishing a journal article paper in The New England Journal of Medicine, the no 1 Medical Journal in the world, with an impact factor of a whopping 176.082. Dr Srikumar is also involved in numerous national and international research grant projects.
His success stories include commercial income generation, patents, innovations and inventions. He has filed over 40 inventions and patents, including Biotechnology, Drug Delivery systems, Artificial Intelligence, Agrotech, aquaponics and hydroponics, smartphone apps, medicine, healthcare, virtual education and diagnostic platforms (one of which was voted among the hottest 10 startup apps of 2021).
Over the years, Dr Srikumar has won numerous awards such as the Academic Brilliance Awards 2013 for Excellence in Research, the Venus International Medical Award 2018 for Excellence in Pathology, Brand Laureate Award for Brand Leadership 2018, The Outstanding Scientist Award 2019, Ron Harden Award for Innovation in Medical Education 2009, Malaysia’s Visionary Education Leader 2021, and Outstanding Leader in Healthcare Sector 2022.
