SEGi Students Gain Industry Insights During Educational Visit to Daikin Malaysia

On 25 June 2026, a group of 60 students from SEGi University participated in an enriching industrial visit to Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn. Bhd., located in Section 13, Petaling Jaya. The participants comprised students from the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering, Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Bachelor of Civil Engineering, as well as the Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science programmes. The students were accompanied by lecturers from the Foundation, Information Technology, and Engineering faculties, whose guidance and support contributed to the success of the visit.

The visit provided students with valuable exposure to the practical applications of air-conditioning technologies and industry practices. During the technical sharing session, Daikin representatives introduced the students to various air-conditioning systems and explained key considerations in their installation across different environments. Students gained insights into the challenges of installing air-conditioning units in indoor and outdoor settings, single-storey and multi-storey buildings, as well as high-rise developments. The session also highlighted the importance of selecting suitable air-conditioning solutions based on building requirements, energy efficiency, and long-term operational performance.

In addition to technical knowledge, students were introduced to sustainable practices and the role of energy-efficient technologies in reducing electricity consumption and operating costs. The interactive presentations enabled students to better understand how engineering solutions contribute to environmental sustainability while meeting the needs of modern buildings.

To make the session more engaging, Daikin organised interactive quizzes throughout the presentation. Students actively participated by answering questions related to the topics discussed, with several participants receiving complimentary gifts for their correct responses. These activities encouraged active learning and kept the students engaged throughout the visit.

The industrial visit successfully bridged classroom learning with real-world industrial applications, providing students with practical knowledge and greater awareness of current technologies and sustainable engineering practices. SEGi University extends its sincere appreciation to Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn. Bhd. for their warm hospitality, insightful knowledge sharing, and continuous support in developing future engineering professionals.
