Graphic Design embraces a number of artistic and professional disciplines in the field of visual communication and presentation, including the use of typography and photographic imagery. It transcends language barriers by means of symbols. Various methods are used to create and combine symbols, images and/or words to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. Common uses of graphic design include magazines, advertisements, product packaging and web design.

A number of occupations are commonly classified under the broad term of graphic designer. Graphic design career paths cover all ends of the creative spectrum including: Graphic Designer, DTP Artist, Packaging Designer, Visualiser, Corporate Designer, In-house Designer, Colour Separator, Illustrator, Art Director, Creative Director, Digital Image Artist, Design Consultant, Digital Printer, Event Designer, Display Artist.
