SEGi Public Health Campaign (PHC) 2026: “Here With You” Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign

The Faculty of Pharmacy, SEGi University, in collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA) and organised through the SEGi Pharmacy Students’ Association (SPSA), successfully conducted the SEGi Public Health Campaign (PHC) 2026: “Here With You” Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign on 31 May 2026 at Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya. The campaign, themed “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” aimed to raise awareness on mental health, suicide prevention, and emotional well-being. The event was organised under the guidance of Ms. Rini Dinesh Sangarran, Lecturer and Advisor of SPSA, while Ms. Carmen Lau, a Year 2 Bachelor of Pharmacy student, served as Event Director. The organising committee also extends its sincere appreciation to the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Bama V. V. Menon, for her continuous support and encouragement. Visitors participated in various interactive activities, including the Tree of Hope, Lifeline Lounge, Mind Scan, CampUs Care, Medication Review, and several wellness-focused stations designed to promote self-care, resilience, and mental health awareness. The programme featured a Caring Pharmacy Talk by Mr. Aik Ming Hui, during which a Medication Disposal Bin was officially launched to encourage the safe disposal of unused and expired medicines. The bin will be placed at the Mock Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, for one month, supporting environmental sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants also benefited from health talks by Dr. Vaidehi Ulaganthan and Ms. Izzaty Shaima, as well as a panel discussion, “Behind the Strength: Understanding the Hidden Depression,” featuring Professor Dato’ Dr. Andrew Mohanraj, Dr. Cynthia Roshini Thomas, Ms. Puveshini Rao, and Professor Dr. Eugene Tee, moderated by Mr. Dinesh Sangarran Ramachandram. The campaign was further strengthened through collaborations with Alpro Pharmacy, Dr. Clear Aligners, Joy Mind Centre, Caring Pharmacy, the SEGi Psychology Club, the SEGi ISPE Student Chapter, and the Kenali Ubat Anda (KUA) Programme, which provided stress screening, educational booths, medication disposal awareness, and interactive games for visitors. Attracting more than 100 visitors, PHC 2026 successfully promoted mental health awareness, responsible medication practices, and community engagement. The campaign stands as a proud achievement for the Faculty of Pharmacy, SPSA, and MyPSA in fostering a more informed, compassionate, and resilient society.
