Cheah Gaik Chiam has nearly 30 years of experience in the education industry, specialising in corporate strategy, education, and cost accounting, which involves recording a company’s cost of production, assessing the costs and improving its management.

She started her career at Institut Perkim Goon, which was later rebranded to PTPL College Penang, and subsequently to MSU College Penang. She has held many positions over the years, starting from a lecturer, before moving up the ranks to become a head of the department, vice-principal, head of school and principal.

Cheah holds a Professional Degree in Finance, Accounting and Banking (Major in FCMA) from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and a Professional Degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking (FCCA) from The Association of Chartered Certified Accountant. In 2005, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Studies, Administration and Management (Major in Human Resources and Quality Education) from the University of Portsmouth.
