Our Medical Course is Divided Into Three Phases: Phase one is spread out across two years, whereby students are taught general medical sciences that range from biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical microbiology, medical parasitology, community medicine, and early clinical clerical work in a conducive setting.
Phase two is where students start their early clinical clerkship with one year of interchangeable roles in pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, and women’s health.
Phase three is where aspiring doctors acquire additional knowledge, proficiency, and critical skills during their advanced clerkship. This encompasses two years in multiple clinical disciplines, namely psychiatry, palliative care, community based medicine, rehabilitation, specialised postings of ophthalmology, otolaryngology, anesthesiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, and forensic medicine during your fourth year of study.
During the final year, you will go through orthopedics and trauma enrolment, and in preparation for the final professional examinations, you will revisit the four main postings in clinical medicine; pediatrics and neonatology, internal medicine, surgery and women’s health.
Students can expect to foster soft skills in communication, team building, social responsibility, problem solving, critical thinking, leadership, and management during their five years of study.
Equipping future doctors at SEGi University
Upon graduation, our newly graduated doctors are required to complete the housemanship programme in public hospitals that is organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Health. After completing your housemanship, you may opt to pursue postgraduate specialist degree programmes in all areas that pertain to medicine depending on your preferred choice of career path. The MBBS programme is spaced out across a five-year duration to ensure that students are prepared to tackle medicinal scenarios that are bound to come their way.
Expected Salary Curious about how much you will be earning upon making it as a medical practitioner in Malaysia? Well, the average salary for doctors in our country stands at RM85,459 a year. With more experience under your belt, your salary will be sure to be reflected accordingly.
As of 30th July 2014, the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) had adopted the following Minimum Criteria & Qualification for the entry into Medical Programmes in Malaysia.
All applicants who enter a matriculation, foundation or pre-medical programme, except those with a degree qualification in the arts of humanities, shall have passed and attained a minimum of the following at School Certificate level or its equivalent:

Language Requirements All applicants shall have attained a level of competence in English to enable them to complete the course successfully. Graduates from a medical programme who seek employment in the public sector shall attain a credit in Bahasa Malaysia and English at SPM or its equivalent.
Other Requirements Applicants may be required to pass an aptitude test and / or an interview and / or A university entrance examination.
