SEGi Merdeka Young Chef Challenge 2025 – Competition Guidelines

Open to secondary school students and school leavers aged 15–20, this live cooking challenge celebrates Malaysia’s rich breakfast culture with a Merdeka twist. Teams of two will have 90 minutes to prepare, cook, and plate their dish, along with a beverage using Coffee Catcher products.

Basic seasoning and kitchen equipment will be provided, while participants must bring their own ingredients (plus one secret/personal ingredient), knife set, and small tools. Proper kitchen attire is compulsory to ensure hygiene and safety.

Each dish must represent a Malaysian breakfast with a creative Merdeka-inspired touch and be served in two portions for judging.

• Creativity & Originality (20%)

• Taste & Flavour (30%)

• Presentation & Plating (20%)

• Technique & Skill (20%)

• Cleanliness & Hygiene (10%)

The judges’ decisions are final, and SEGi College Kota Damansara reserves the right to use recipes, photos, and videos for promotional purposes. Professional conduct and respect for all are expected throughout the competition.
