Tun Md Raus was appointed to the Board in 3 June 2025.
Tun Md Raus graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Malaya in 1976 and later obtained his Master of Laws from the London School of Economics in 1987. In recognition of his contributions to the legal field, he was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Law by Multimedia University in 2023. He currently serves as the Chancellor of City University Malaysia.
Tun Md Raus began his distinguished career in 1976 in the Judicial and Legal Service, where he held numerous key positions including Magistrate, President of the Sessions Court, Deputy Public Prosecutor, and Legal Advisor to the Ministry of International Trade, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Home Affairs. He also served as State Legal Advisor for the states of Malacca and Kelantan, and his final post in the Judicial and Legal Service was as the Treasury Solicitor at the Ministry of Finance.
He was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner on 1 November 1994 and subsequently elevated as a High Court Judge on 12 January 1996. Throughout his judicial tenure, he served in various divisions including the Criminal, Civil (Family Court), Commercial, and Appellate and Special Powers Divisions in Shah Alam, Muar, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur. He was elevated to the Court of Appeal on 28 July 2006, and later to the Federal Court on 14 October 2009. On 12 September 2011, he was appointed as the President of the Court of Appeal, and on 1 April 2017, he reached the pinnacle of his judicial career when he assumed the position of the 14th Chief Justice of Malaysia.
On the international front, Tun Md Raus held the distinguished role of President of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions. He was also an active member of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ), contributing to regional legal discourse and cooperation.
Currently, Tun Md Raus serves as the Chairman (Non-Executive Director) of Poh Huat Resources Holdings Berhad and Sedania Innovator Berhad. He is also the Chairman of Legacy Trustee Berhad, a public company, since August 2024.
