Description

The SEGi University College Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechanical Engineering is an ideal programme for students who are interested in technology and its use in creative design, providing graduates with the skills and knowledge to become a modern mechanical engineer.

Year 1 of the programme aims to consolidate mathematical and scientific knowledge while introducing the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and developing an enthusiasm for engineering among the students. This first year of studies is primarily aimed at bringing all students to a common base-line of knowledge and skills, irrespective of their differing educational and knowledge backgrounds.

During year 2 of the programme, students will be taught the fundamentals of mechanical engineering with an emphasis on the application to real engineering components. Two mathematics modules are taken to continue the development of essential skills but these now concentrate on modelling and computational aspects.

In Year 3, students undertake a design project and mechanical subject areas as well as non-mechanical subject areas like management and environmental issues that are essential for a professional engineer in the modern world.

In the final year of the programme students will have to opportunity to choose from a major in thermal engineering or reversed engineering. The research project shall be in the elective chosen by students.
