29th May 2008 - The student council of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur held their annual Food & Garage Sale to raise funds for the council. This year’s event reaped higher profits from last year’s with nail art by a committee member, the biggest attraction of the fund-raising event.

According to student council president, Peggy Tang, the success of this year’s fund-raiser was due to more participation by members and support from other students and staff.

“I believe one of the highest earners of the event was by one of our committee members. Her passion for nail art made her an expert in drawing wonderful designs for manicure. So, she charged a very reasonable rate which got all our female college mates and some of the boys interested. I can frankly say her stall for the fund-raiser was one of the most popular,” credited Tang. “Nail art ended up our biggest profit earner for this year’s fund-raiser!”

“We also have a bigger variety of local food that really won the stomachs of students and staff. We sold drinks from sirap bandung to soft drinks, and yummy kuih-muih to hot and crispy fries,” said Tang.

The food certainly was a sold out for the fund-raiser. The garage sale was also a hit with the students as the council managed to work with Original Fake, to sell their clothes at the event. The casual clothing line caught the eye of students and a good amount was sold over the two days. The council received a share from the profit earned.
To add to the excitement of the fund-raiser, the Hitz.fm Cruiser team dropped by the College to distribute free goodies to the students.

“I would say this year’s event was a blast on top of being one of best earning fund-raiser! We can certainly do more now this year with the funds raised,” said Tang.
