8TV has set up a scholarship fund of RM300,000 in support of Malaysian students to further their tertiary education. The fund is supported by SEGi College.

The scholarship fund was launched at a signing ceremony between the 8TV and SEGi. Representing SEGi College was its Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Clement Hii and representing 8TV was Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Izham Omar. The event was witnessed by Malaysian Idols, Jaclyn Victor and Daniel Lee, both of whom are SEGi College ambassadors.

In his speech, Hii thanked 8TV for selecting SEGi as their partner in setting up the education fund and said that the partnership would be beneficial to both parties and the students.

“8TV and SEGi obviously share the same concern on the need to balance business with social obligations. The least that we can do in the business of media and education industry is to give back to our community when the opportunities arise. SEGi certainly believes in providing education opportunities for qualified students, and working together with corporations in realising their corporate responsibility,” said Hii.

SEG International Bhd who owns and manages the network of SEGi Colleges was listed as the fourth Top Corporate Givers by Malaysian Business in September 2005.

SEGi College and 8TV would be selecting the applicants who qualify for the education fund. Applicants will be scrutinised on academic qualification, background and shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the Scholarship Board of the 8TV Education Fund. The closing date for the 8TV education fund is 31 st March 2006 .
