Site visits are a sure and effective way to learn, especially for students studying civil engineering and construction management. Built Environment students at SEGi University College had 2 site visits on 23 November last year followed by another on 1 March this year.

The objectives for each site visit were different, ensuring that the students were exposed to real life examples into the application of knowledge in industry. The first visit on 23 November was to Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya.

40 students learned about the use of natural cooling and ventilation systems as well as the construction of steel structured buildings by studying the mosque. They were also given a briefing by Encik Ismail, an Engineer from Primetech Engineers Sdn. Bhd for a better understanding.

The site visit on 1 March was to the Denai Alam Project Site in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The 43 students who went gained practical knowledge on residential and commercial development, various construction processes as well as a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of site representatives. They were also given assignments related to the project site.

SEGi University College currently offers the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Construction Management, which is a 3-year degree programme, and the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering, which is a 4-year programme with the University of Greenwich as the Quality Partner.
