20 High achievers from the Centre for Foundation Studies, who completed Pre-University programmes at SEGi University College recently, had a fun photo-shoot on campus last month to commemorate their well-earned results. Top achievers Ooi Lay Pheng and Lee Wei Min were interviewed on how they did it.

Lay Pheng scored a CGPA of 3.92 in the Foundation in Commerce, just a little behind from Lee Wei Min who scored 4.0 in the Foundation in Science. Nevertheless, Lay Pheng is satisfied with her results.

“Actually I didn’t really expect to do so well. It’s a pleasant surprise. I’m glad and thankful, especially to my lecturers who are very good,” said Lay Pheng who originates from Penang, but now lives in Puchong.

“The lecturers and the environment here at SEGi University College helped to motivate me to study and do well. It has been fun studying here too because there are lots of activities here,” she said.

During her studies she stayed on-campus because the traveling distance from college to Puchong is rather far. “I enjoyed staying on-campus, because it’s so convenient and I could study together with my room-mates,” said the sprightly Ooi.

Lay Pheng discovered SEGi University College through a trip organised by her secondary school. After completing studies in school she came to the campus with a few friends to meet counselors, and the rest is history.

Her ambition is to become an accountant some day. She hopes this bright career path would help her take care of her parents when they are old. This hard-working young lady now works part-time in a bakery to earn some side income while waiting to continue with her studies in the Teesside University Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting & Finance at SEGi UC.
