July 15, 2012

Over 200 SEGi students from SEGi College Kuala Lumpur joined 2,000 other Yoga enthusiasts to help Great Eastern Life Assurance (M) Bhd make it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for the largest number of participants at a ‘Yoga For Life’ gathering on the 15 July 2012.

Great Eastern organised this ‘Live Great’ event at the Strand in Kota Damansara to promote healthy lifestyle through yoga. The Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) was also invited to create awareness of breast cancer and survival via early detection, to raise funds for the Association and in the course of doing so, enter the Malaysia Book of Records.

Goodie bags with vouchers and leaflets from participating partners including Bizzy Body, True Fitness and Blackmores awaited the 2,220 eager yoga enthusiasts. Mix FM’s JD and Dilly and MY FM’s Wan Wai Fun provided fun-filled entertainment during the event. Yogis from True Fitness got everyone to do some simple yoga moves for about 45 minutes.

The guest-of-honour, Ms Ranjit Kaur, the CEO of the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the participants for their support and to Great Eastern for the donation of RM 44,400 received from the participants’ registration fees. The proclamation by the MBR officials that the event made it into the Malaysia Book of Records received a thunderous applause from the participants.

SEGi Kuala Lumpur is proud of their students for being a part of such a meaningful community project for a worthy cause.
