July 24, 2012

Drug Abuse is one of the banes of modern society. It hits all regions and sections of our society in rural and urban areas, among the rich and the poor, both male and female. Keeping this in mind, the Student Affairs & Alumni Division and Helping Hands successfully organized a Drug Awareness Campaign on 24 July 2012 at SEGi University College.

A talk and an exhibition were held simultaneously as a part of the drug awareness campaign. The talk on the awareness of drug usage was given by Mr Zulkarnain, an officer from the National Anti Drugs Agency (Agensi Anti-Dadah Kebangsaan). He gave a comprehensive explanation on the types of drugs available and the consequences of taking those drugs.  Students were also exposed to the impacts of drugs on our immune system.

The exhibition held at the lobby created awareness among the students, staff and the public about drugs and drug addiction. Hopefully it equipped the campus community with knowledge of exercising a better choice when dealing with drugs.

The organizers hoped that this campaign would instill in young minds the consequences of harmful substances and create an understanding in them that substance abuse affects the lives of their loved ones as well.
