The course is designed to provide students "hands-on" training and experience in an actual dental office. The teaching is stimulating, fast-paced and relies heavily on individual participation with constant professional supervision.

Students will experience a 16 weeks clinical attachment at the well established and prestigious Dental Faculty University Malaya - Malaysia's oldest university.

The dental assistant performs many task requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.

The responsibilities may include:

  • Sterillize and disinfect instruments and equipment
  • Prepare tray setups for dental procedures
  • Provide postoperative instruction
  • Instruct patients in oral health care
  • Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations
  • Expose radiographs and process dental X-ray film as directed by the dentist
  • Performing office management tasks that often require use of personal computer
  • Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g. scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies)
