The Information Engineer of the future must be equipped with the appropriate skills to meet these challenges. Managing various aspects of information systems used by companies if one the key skills required by computing and IT specialists.

The MSc Information Systems Management postgraduate programme aims to provide students with sound knowledge of planning and control of information systems. It will also give students the skills and knowledge of tools to build effective systems incorporating databases and front end web based technologies.

The programme also aims to develop the ability of students to critically analyse information and effectively use methods to understand information and information systems. In addition, it will enable students to make informed decisions concerning the use of information systems in a business environment.

As business increase their reliance on technology through means such as broadband communications, electronic document interchange, executive information and decision assistance systems; information systems personnel with the ability to bridge the commerce/technology gap will be in strong demand. The industry need a new breed of information systems professionals for new management jobs in corporate information resource arrangement, strategic IT management, e-business strategies, project management and systems integration. In addition to technical skills, businesses are seeking graduates who possess the skills to identify business opportunities in strategic and functional areas, and collaborate with managers to optimise the way information technology works for them.

Virtually all large workplaces employ IS/IT Professionals. IT affects every business today: retail, banking, farming, teaching, transport, manufacturing, publishing, services and most other industries.

Graduates of the MSc Information Systems Management have gained employment in both public and private sector organisation in a range of technology related positions such as IT Consultants, IT Managers, Systems Analysts; Business Analysts, e- Business Consultants, Information Systems Analysts, Information Systems Strategic Managers, Business Development Managers and Project Manager.
