|A total of 16,000 participants including 120 from SEGi College Kuala Lumpur gathered at the Dataran Merdeka on 3 December for the Tarian Cuti-Cuti 1 Malaysia this year. The event, held from 6 a.m. till 11 a.m., was graced by Y.A.B. Datin Sri Paduka Rosmah Mansor and Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen.|
Seven different types of dances were performed, breaking the previous year’s record. The multicultural dances included Ma Chang Fei (Chinese), Jambatan Tamparuli (Sabahan), Paatu Paadavaa (Indian), Puteri Santubung (Sarawakian), Sewang (Orang Asli), Siamese (Thai) and Zapin Bunga Hutan (Malay). The event was made even more exciting with a ‘Lucky Draw’ and performances by local popular artistes such as Arora, Zamani and Sri Dewi.
The students from the Nursing Faculty of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur have actively participated in this event since 2010. As a token of appreciation all the participants received certificates and souvenirs such as T-shirts, caps and bag packs. They were also treated to breakfast. The Ministry of Tourism was very pleased with the cooperation from the students of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur and hopes for their continuing support in the future.
Since 2009, Tarian Cuti-Cuti 1 Malaysia has been recorded as an official event in the Ministry of Tourism’s yearly calendar. The objective of the event is to promote Malaysia as a multicultural holiday destination.
