SEGi is Top 3 in Malaysia

SEGi rates 6 stars in MOHE MyQuest Evaluation! SEGi Education Group (SEGi) has once again demonstrated its commitment to delivering quality education by meeting the high standards as set out by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) during the 2010/2011 Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for Private Colleges (MyQuest) on 10 November in Putrajaya.

Participation in the evaluation carried out in 2010/2011 was open to private higher educational institutions with non university or non university college status (private colleges) that are registered with MOHE.

MyQuest is an evaluation system that was developed by MOHE as an instrument to evaluate the current performance of private colleges in Malaysia in terms of students, programmes, graduates, resources and governance, with the aim of encouraging a higher standard of education.

As well as being a means of evaluation for MOHE, the system was also intended to be a useful tool in helping colleges drive further improvement by providing clear indicators and benchmarks.

The overall evaluation was based on 5 criteria: Students (10%), Resources (30%), Quality Management Systems (30%), Programme Recognition (10%), and Graduate Recognition (20%).

Each private college who participated in the evaluation was given a college-based rating as well as cluster-based ratings. The college-based rating is an overall indication of the colleges performance while the cluster-based ratings highlight the strength of the college in identified niche areas.

The ratings awarded under the system range from 1 star, which indicates a poor performance, to 6 stars which indicates an outstanding performance.

A total of 400 active colleges in Malaysia were invited to take part in the evaluation process. Of these 400 private colleges, 310 chose to participate of which 232 qualified to be audited. After the auditing process it was determined that 210 college qualified to be rated.

SEGi College Subang Jaya, SEGi College Kuala Lumpur, SEGi College Penang and SEGi College Sarawak were all audited by MOHE in the evaluation process and attained excellent results.

SEGi College Subang Jaya was elated to be once of only three colleges to be awarded the highest rating of 6 stars in the overall college-based rating.

In addition, SEGi scored 6-star ratings for 5 of the 9 cluster-based categories, the MOST of any education group:

- Arts & Humanities (SEGi Subang Jaya)
- Science, Mathematics & Computing (SEGi KL)
- Health and Welfare (SEGi KL)
- Services (SEGi KL)
- International Student Readiness (SEGi KL)

SEGi KL and SEGi Sarawak were also awarded the high 5-star rating in the overall college-based category, depicting an excellent performance. SEGi Kota Damansara shall be assessed separately under SETARA, the rating system for universities and university colleges.

“We decided years ago that we should focus solely on the provision of quality education and student experience, with the knowledge that other components for a successful learning institution AND business entity would fall into place,” said Lee Kok Cheng, SEGi Education Group CEO.

“Our course offerings are wide-ranging and, as the MyQuest ratings show, we find strength in our diversity.”

Today, SEGi serves 27,000 local and international students across its campuses nationwide and boasts a team of 1,600 staff members, guided by their passion to provide industry-driven education.

SEGi has once again proven that they are a top performer and not just because they do things right, but because they do the right things.

The facts and figures don’t lie!
