Dean, Faculty of Nursing
Responsibilities :
- Responsible in positioning the faculty within the core business of the university college, with regards to research, teaching and community interaction.
- Responsible in positioning the faculty within national education policy and drawing up business plan(s) for the faculty as well as assisting the marketing department to sell the course(s) both nationally and internationally.
- Responsible for the overall planning, renewal and changing of academic programmes to ensure meaningful academic outcomes, quality, effectiveness and financial viability, and obtaining the necessary approvals from the relevant internal and external authorities.
- Responsible to implement an effective research policy for the academic staff, and setting up the necessary structures that will ensure that the research in the faculty is relevant and of a high quality.
- Responsible to create and maintain the necessary structure in the faculty by means of which effective and relevant service can be delivered to the community.
- Responsible for manpower planning in the faculty.
- Responsible for the financial viability of the faculty.
- Accountable for the effective management of the infrastructure and all the assets in the faculty.
- Providing pastoral care to students so that student attrition is minimized.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining the relevancy of the curriculum
- Maintain and improve relationships with the Nursing Board, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Malaysian Qualifying Agency as well as with foreign partner universities.
- Lead the academic team in the publication of research papers.
Requirements:
- Candidate must have at least a Master Degree in Nursing or related disciplines and preferences will be given to PhD holders.
- Minimum 7 years of working experiences in teaching at tertiary level as well as experience at a management level.
- Must possess strong academic leadership skills and a broad understanding of the nursing profession.
- Strong organization skills including the ability to manage diverse tasks at the same time.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to coalesce diverse constituents around common purposes, goals and actions.
- Strong commitment to academic integrity; commitment to the university college philosophy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for liaison with various academic institutions and governments agencies.
