Pre-Departure Checklist
Reminder: All international students MUST get a direct flight to Penang International Airport and DO NOT transit at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)
Expenses
Please bring along sufficient cash of RM 300 – RM 500 for the first few days expenses in Penang while waiting for your other fund to be transmitted. It is advisable for the other fund to be transmitted electronically into your account. Credit cards such as Master, Visa, American Express and Diners Club are acceptable at major commercial outlets. Please check with the card company for the merchant acceptability and other services in Malaysia.
Malaysia Ringgit denominations are as below:
- Note – RM 1, RM 2, RM 5, RM 10, RM 50 and RM 100
- Coin – 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 20¢, 50¢ and RM 1
Health
Please check with your panel doctor in home country on your medical history. It's advisable for you to list out the medication that will cause allergic reaction and also the immunisation and medication taken previously. All these information are very useful in case you become ill in Malaysia.
Passport / Visa
Please proceed with the approval letter to the stated Malaysia Embassy / Consulate Office if you are required to obtain an entry visa before leaving your home country. For students who are not required to do so, please produce the approval letter upon arrival.
Please ensure that your passport is valid at least 6 months at the date of entry. Your passport must have enough pages for endorsement stamping upon arrival and also for Student Pass/Visa endorsement sticker.
Electrical Appliances
Please note that all electrical appliances such as CD/VCD/DVD player, cameras, shaver, hair-dryer and others that brought over to Malaysia must compatible with the adaptability of 240V or 50Hz. Please check with your electrical merchant before purchase the appliances for usage in Malaysia. |
